| Meta SAFE DHCP provides a stand-alone SAFE DHCP service to implement the SAFE DHCP Quarantine Framework. This page discusses the components of Meta SAFE DHCP and highlights why they make sense in large business IP networks. This page contains the following sections: Meta SAFE DHCP Feature Highlights The Meta SAFE DHCP Architecture The Meta SAFE DHCP Management Console The Meta SAFE DHCP Manager Server The SAFE DHCP Servers MAC Address Authentication Meta SAFE DHCP Tools Highly scalable DHCP services SAFE DHCP MAC Address Authentication Module DHCP Failover SAFE DNS Effective data validation You can deploy Meta SAFE DHCP in three-tiers, which consist of: - Tier 1: the Management Console (the UI)
- Tier 2: the Manager Server (the datastore)
- Tier 3: SAFE DHCP services
The Management Console requires a Windows platform. The Manager Server and the SAFE DHCP service run on the MetaInfo Appliances. You configure and administer all Meta SAFE DHCP Services through the Windows-based Meta SAFE DHCP Management Console. Meta SAFE DHCP includes an unlimited number of Management Consoles installations to ensure network-wide connectivity to the Manager Servers. The Meta SAFE DHCP Manager Server is the center of the product. All communications between the three tiers happen through the Manager Server. Meta SAFE DHCP includes Manager Servers on both the MetaInfo and SAFE DHCP Quarantine Appliances. SAFE DNS provides a wildcard DNS service. When a SAFE DHCP quarantined client opens a Web browser, any URL entered resolves to the SAFE DNS server. At this point, you can force the client to register and/or force a scan of the client machine for site-specific security compliance. Once the client completes the requirements, the client can receive an unrestricted lease and use the standard DNS server to resolve queries. Meta SAFE DHCP includes SAFE DNS on the SAFE DHCP Quarantine Appliance. Meta SAFE DHCP fully automates administration of DHCP services (including all failover services) from the Meta SAFE DHCP Management Console. You can create, modify, delete, export or find any DHCP service or object. Meta SAFE DHCP supports DHCP failover. Meta DHCP includes SAFE DHCP on both the MetaInfo and SAFE DHCP Quarantine Appliances (one for primary and one for failover). The MAC Address Authentication Module extends the standard functionality of DHCP to evaluate clients before granting a lease. If clients are not in the MAC Address Database, or are specifically denied, SAFE DNS forces them to the SAFE DHCP Quarantine page when they open a browser. Meta SAFE DHCP includes the tools to find, analyze, and manage the data in a large business's network. Configuration Analysis tools provide reports that you can run on your DHCP lease pools and services to troubleshoot problems and examine configuration and usage.Meta SAFE DHCP provides each tool as a configurable template that you can save and use again at a specific time, a specific date, or a specific interval. You can display an analysis on the screen, to a table, or to a file that you can further customize. Analysis Tools includes two DHCP configuration templates and the Lease Reclamation Tool. The Meta SAFE DHCP Dynamic view displays current DHCP activity. You can search for all records and leases, or a particular record or lease. You can also obtain lease pool statistics from the Dynamic view. |
