Announcing Meta IP v5.6 - MetaInfo proudly announces the release of Meta IP v5.6. SAFE DHCP enhancements include the ability to quarantine unauthenticated DHCP clients, a MAC Address Authentication Wizard, and a MAC Module Shared Database Management Tool. Other features include the ability to access version information for all managed servers from the Management Console, an enhanced service export window, the ability to set or clear User Data on multiple objects, and a new dump leases tool. ISC DHCP 3 CERT advisory does not apply to Meta IP SAFE DCHP - MetaInfo's Meta IP SAFE DHCP service is not vulnerable to the recent CERT alert TA04-174A that applies to the ISC DHCP 3 and all implementations and versions that are derived from ISC DHCP 3. See the full announcement.

Announcing Meta IP SAFE DHCP - MetaInfo proudly announces Meta IP SAFE DHCP, which offers new layers of protection for your network. SAFE DHCP (Secure Addressing Foundation Extensions DHCP) consists of modules that extend the functionality of the Meta IP SAFE DHCP engine to evaluate clients before granting a lease. SAFE DHCP requires no changes to the DHCP client software and complies with all DHCP protocol standards.

December 4th, 2003:

DNS hot fix available for Meta IP NG FP3 - MetaInfo announces a hot fix for the DNS server in Meta IP NG Feature Pack 3, that includes a security fix which prevents negative answers being cached from the wrong source.

This hot fix applies to all MetaInfo products that include our DNS server. This includes Meta IP Enterprise, Meta IP Pro, Meta IP SL, and Meta DNS.

October 7th, 2003:

MetaInfo statement regarding DNS wildcards in top-level domains (TLDs) - Recently, a configuration change was introduced in the domain name system that may have affected some network administrators. This configuration change has since been removed, pending further study on the impact of such changes.

MetaInfo is currently researching the most effective way to address this issue, should it be re-introduced in the future, in order to provide customers with the most stable and reliable DNS implementation possible.

MetaInfo announces end of support for Meta IP 4.1, on January 1, 2004. Customers with active support contracts and software subscriptions are entitled to upgrade their products at no cost. August 15th, 2003:

MetaInfo announces new versions of Meta IP SL and Meta DNS, our products for small and medium businesses and Web Service Providers. Meta DNS now supports unlimited zones.

Meta DNS now includes new Zone Templates, which can be used to populate DNS options and resource records that are commonly used in your environment.

Meta IP SL includes the DHCP Dynamic View Table, where you can view the properties of a particular lease, as well as ping its host, or free the lease.

April 28th, 2003:

MetaInfo has released Meta IP NG FP3. This feature pack includes the new advanced Authenticated DHCP Framework, and the enterprise version includes the MAC Address Filtering plug-in at no extra charge. We would highly recommend upgrading to this version as there are several low level fixes also included in this release. If you currently have Meta IP NG or Meta IP NG FP1 you must first request new licenses from licensing@metainfo.com.
